Live with a Mayan Family
About Us:
Lola has worked as my housekeeper and nanny since my children were infants. I have watched her children grow and have children of their own.
Her father was a well known Maya priest who died a few years back
Lola never went to school but three of her six children, which she raised on her own, graduated (or will soon graduate) from high school.
The women of the family wear "traje", Mayan dress. All speak Spanish and Chaquiquel. One even speaks fluent English.
Facilities & Services:
Through hard work she and her children have slowly been constructing a large, or at least large by Mayan standards, home they share. They even have three extra rooms which they have rented on and off to students on independent study.
The rooms they rent are finished and the three rooms for rent share one bathroom.
Rates:
A room rents for $150 / month or $75 / week. If you like tortillas she will also make some meals for a very resonable price. It's basic Mayan fare, but nutritious and filling.
Of Special Note:
With out a doubt the best way to get to know the Maya is to live with them. It'a a great oportunity to practice your Spanish. In fact unless Stella (the daughter who speaksEnglish) is there you'll have no choice but to speak it.

Reservation Policy:
This reservation service is free, as your 10% deposit is credited against the total value of your reservation. It is required in order to block your space and confirm your reservation with the balance of 90% due upon your arrival with us.
We may require additional payments to hold your particular reservation up to and including a full 100% prepayment depending upon the details of your reservation. If that is the case, you will be advised of these additional reservation payments before you are asked to pay your 10% non-refundable confirmation deposit. Commonly first and last month's will be required for lengthy stays.
Cancellation Policy:
After reservation, you are free to cancel for any reason and without penalty against your balance due up to three days prior to schedule arrival unless otherwise stated in your reservation confirmation. Any later cancellation or a no-show will cause a billing of one night's lodging per the terms of your confirmed reservation.
Important: The only safe way to transmit credit card information over the internet is via a secure server, identified by the "https://..." designation in your browser's address bar.
Look for it in our own payment window when you reserve.
